Opening Account with National Bank of Pakistan

National Bank of Pakistan is a commercial bank established in 1949 with its headquarters in Karachi. The bank serves both commercial and public sector banking to its customers and has a total 1,450 branches as of March 2017.

National Bank of Pakistan also provides its clients with online services to cater to their needs of account maintenance from the comfort of their home.

Some of the online services provided by the bank are mentioned below:Balance Enquiry Checking Statement of Account Deposit cash to your own or someone else’s account Cash withdrawal through Cheque Transfer funds to your own or someone else’s account.

Let’s take a look at 3 different types of accounts you can open at NBP: Current account, Savings account , Asaan account, Current Account:

There are 2 types of people who can apply for a current account at NBP:

Salaried individual (Age limit: 18 to 70 years old)

Business owner (Age limit: 18 to 70 years old)

Salaried individual:

To apply for a current account at NBP, you need to collect the following documents:CNICProof of employment (through an employment verification letter)Copy of your utility bills

Business owner:

Collect and submit the following documents to the bank if you want to open a current account at NBP:

After you’ve submitted these documents, you’d also need to pay a minimum fee of 1000 PKR for account opening while no minimum balance is required for account maintenance (this opening fee is for the NBP choice current account). To apply for a savings account at NBP, you need to collect the following documents: CNICP roof of employment (through an employment verification letter)Copy of your utility bills

Business owner:

Accumulate and submit the following documents to the bank if you want to open a savings account at NBP:

After submitting these documents you’d also need to pay a minimum fee of 1000 PKR (PKR is the abbreviation for Pakistani rupee ) for account opening while no minimum balance is required for account maintenance(this fee and minimum balance requirement is for the Premium saver account), if you wish to look at other savings account, check out the product &services and Islamic banking section on this page.Features of Savings Account:Profit Up to 1% in excess of the normal PLS Savings account rate on maintaining a balance of 20,000 PKR to 1 Million PKR.Profit payment on half-year basis.Maximum 2 withdrawals allowed each month.Free NBP Cash Card.Free SMS Alerts.Asaan account:

Open an Asaan account if you’re not the type of person to indulge in the formalities of applying documents, Asaan account offers the facility of opening an account with minimal documents required.

What documents are necessary for a foreigner to open a bank account?
Valid passport.
Proof of address.
Proof of employment/ income.
Documents proving the origin of the funds for your initial deposit.

All you need is your CNIC ( Computerised National Identity Card ) and 100 PKR for account opening.Features of Asaan account:Account can be opened as either current or savings account.No requirements on maintaining minimum balance.No charges on account opening or closing.Issuance of NBP ATM Card.Free Cheque Book.
